APPX is a application package file format introduced with Microsoft Windows 8 system. APPX file can store various types of applications and Windows 8 (and later) software programs available on Windows Store.

APPX package format conforms to Open Packing Conventions (OPC) standard for storing data and application resources in structured ZIP archive. APPX files have a maximum 2GB file size.

APPX files for mobile platforms

APPX file is a complete software package for distributing and installing applications.
