CHD is an disk image format used for computer game emulation. As much a 100 games used this file format, including such graphically advanced titles as Street Fighter III: Third Strike or San Francisco Rush.

The format wasn’t very popular as CHD image files require considerable resources to mount disk image on arcade machines. MAME emulator developed in 1997 requires game ROM and HDD image to be present to run given arcade game.
