DRF file stores rendered 3D graphics, typically related to architectural design. DRF files are generated by VIZ Render tool available as addon to Autodesk 3ds Max software.

DRF files cannot be overwritten by users, only viewed or exported into editable format MAX. VIZ Render tool was distributed along with older versions of Autodesk 3ds Max (it hit its peak of popularity during 2004 and 2005) and it’s no longer used.
