DTL files store data for The Sims computer game. DTL files may store source code, game modules, graphics, or audio data. The game use these files during game installation and actual gameplay.

DTL files, beside storing The Sims game data, have no other uses. Users cannot access the data in DTL files directly and the files can only be removed by uninstalling the game using dedicated tool. Deleting DTL files manually will cause the game to not work properly.
