GG is the extension of files associated with the Google Desktop application. GG are files that were used to store gadgets that the program organized, e.g. in the form of a sidebar in the operating system. Gadgets stored in GG files could be installed by the user depending on the needs. Often these were RSS feeds, file search engines, calculator, planner, clock, etc.

Technically, the GG gadgets are compressed ZIP archives that store all the files necessary for the gadget to function properly. Most often these were graphic and programming files. Google Desktop is no longer supported.
