LDIF is a text file that stores contents od LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) folder. LDIF contains one or more records depending od how many objects it represents.

LDIF files and LDAP format allow seamless information exchange with LDAP servers. LDIF format is sometimes called an ‘exchange file’. LDIF files can also store information regarding operations conducted on stored objects, for example, editing, object name changing or deletion.
