LUAC is a developer file format used by Lua programming language compiler. LUAC files contain binary versions of Lua scripts. LUAC can be used to add code to programs written in C programming language.

Lua scripts can be used as a stand-alone programs, but it is common practice to use the script as a support for the main code. LUAC and LUA extension are interchangeable. Lua is frequently updated and modified, and thus it is recommended to retain the source code scripts in case a recompilation is needed due to compatibility issues.
