MF file is a text file that describes contents of a Java archive stored in JAR format. MF is a so called ‘manifest file’ that contains information about the files included in the JAR archive.
MF file stores information in the form of metadata stored along with JAR files.
MF file also holds information regarding the purpose and usage of the archive. Manifest file may sometimes store JAR archive digital signature.
