NRI document file is used by Nero Burning ROM software package. NRI files don’t store any data prepared for burning, only references to location of said data on hard drive.

Nero tool was created in 1997 and since has been considered the most powerful disc burning tool on the market. NRI were used in large number during 2000-2010, when disc burning was very popular. Today, NRI files are seldom seen as USB drives and cloud data storage solutions almost completely replaced disc storages.
