Files with the .PAT extension contain bitmap images, usually in a square shape, ranging in resolution from 8 x 8 pixels to 256 x 256 pixels. They are used as a template and can be imported into many different graphic programs.

PAT files can be used to create background textures by repeatedly placing the same image next to each other.
