Files with the POT extension are used in older versions (up to and including 2003) of the Microsoft Office suite by the application for creating Power Point multimedia presentations. POT files store a presentation template. The file can be used multiple times to create projects that contain the same formatting.

Some templates are pre-installed with the program, but they can also be created by the user. POT files in newer versions of MS Office have been replaced by POTX files which are saved in the OpenXML format while POT files were binary files.
