PTB is a file extension most often associated with a program called Power Tab Editor. This format is used to store tabs mainly for solo and bass guitars. Tablature is an alternative notation for notes used for stringed instruments with a neck. It is easier to read than traditional musical notation on a staff. Specifies at which fret and at what point the corresponding string should be pressed.

Power Tab Editor allows you to create and edit PTB files. This format is also supported by programs such as TuxGuitar, TabView.
