Files with the RX2 extension are used by professional sound and music processing programs and are created with a tool called ReCycle. The RX2 file is used to store audio loops (most often percussion), which do not change the pitch regardless of the change of tempo. The starting element for creating a loop is often the beginning of a measure or some other rhythmic point. This solution allows DAW programs to easily adjust the loop to the tempo of the song. These files use a proprietary compression format.
This solution was developed by Propellerhead Software AB in cooperation with Stenberg and was released as an add-on to Cubase.
