File with an .SHA1 extension contains a block of data – a string of bits or symbols used in the process of verification with the SHA-1 algorithm. Such files are processed with a block coding algorithm.

SHA1 files can be used for purpose of identity verification. They are also used to download files – they constitute their control sum, thanks to which the user knows whether a file has been damaged.
