UDEB is an extension specific to files associated with the popular Linux operating system distribution called Debian. UDEB files are used to distribute software for this system.

UDEB files , unlike DEB files, are minimized installation packages used by the Debian-Installer. They only contain the necessary information needed to initiate the installation by the Debian-Installer (eg omitting the documentation for the software being installed). These packages cannot be installed directly on a Debian system.
