Files with UPS extension are associated with Microsoft Works, which is no longer developed. Works was a simple and cheaper version of the popular Microsoft Office software, still actively developed.

UPS files didn’t store any data that could be edited by users for the files were used internally by Works. If an UPS file is present on the disk, this means that Microsoft Works is installed on the system. UPS format is considered obsolete and is not supported on modern systems.
