V2I is a backup copy file created uing Norton Ghost software. V2I file can hold normal or system partition images, and even images of whole disk. V2I files are used for creating security backup copies of user data.

Norton Ghost is a paid software currently distributed by Norton partner Symantec under the name Ghost Solution Suite. In order to restore data from V2I image, user should install .NET framework packages which is needed for GSS to work properly.
