File with .VCD extension contains optical disc image, either CD or DVD. Windows operating system recognizes this virtual disc image file as actual optical disc.

VCD files enable users to use CD or DVD content without physical copy of it. These files are especially useful on computers not equipped with optical drive such as small mobile devices or network workstations/computers.
