Files with XMF extension are used for animating character models. XMF file stores a mesh for a 3D model comprised of nodes and edges saved in XML format.

XMF files are used by IMVU, a application for animating virtual avatars. In order to be able to open and edit XMF files, as well as similar but more popular CMF files, an open-source animation library Cal3D must be installed on user’s system.
