XPT files are used for storing plugins or additional components for Mozilla Firefox web browser. XPT file allow users to extend browser’s functionality or add new functions to it.
Some content cannot be viewed without proper browser plugin installed. For example, Flash Player requires a flashplayer.xpt file to be installed for the browser in order to view Flash-based content.
