AMD files are chiefly used in woodworking industry. AMD files are associated with Aplhacam software and contain 2D/3D models and drawings used by automated milling machines.

AMD files cannot be converted to other formats as its specification is proprietary to Planit Solutions, developer of Alphacam. AMD files may sometimes be used in artistic projects.
