CIP is a encrypted file format used by CryptoBuddy, a software application developed by Research Triangle Software. CIP files cannot be converted to other file formats and in order to access CIP contents, CryptoBuddy must be used to decrypt the data for further processing.

CIP files are seldom used and the program that supported this format is no longer updated and developed by its producer. CryptoLock applications is the official successor to CryptoBuddy, but it uses a different file format for its files.
