Files with the .FDF extension contain field data exported from a PDF form and saved in text form. The files are usually much smaller than the PDF file itself.

An FDF file can be generated using Adobe Acrobat by choosing the Advanced – Forms – Export Form Data option. These files are what is used for data processing on webpages using CGI scripts.
