HTML5 is a text file, and can be opened or edited using any standard text editor. HTML5 files typically contain HTML code and thus more specialized editors (which offer such features as code highlighting or page preview) are used for editing of such files.

HTML (hypertext Markup Language) is used for creating and formatting web pages. HTML5 files store code written in HTML version 5. HTML extension is also used.
