IDMS files are created using InDesign software, a professional tool for text editing and layout. IDMS files are a part of them main document file. IDMS format is used by InDesign CS4 and later. Previous version of the software were using INDS file format.

IDMS file stores one or more objects and information about their relative location. InDesign allows users to create and export IDMS files and reuse them as a part of a different project.
