Files with the IFF extension are used to store bitmap graphics. This format was developed for the cross-platform exchange of this type of data. It also allows you to exchange such data between different applications. These files were already in use when Amiga computers were widely used. This universal exchange format was also used by Electronics Arts to exchange data not only in graphics, but also in audio and text.

IFF files can be handled by IFF Snooper or IFF Pencil. They are used by The Sims and The Sims Online.
