L file extensions is used by Lex, a Unix software that generates lexical analyzers. L file stores source code divided into three parts: definitions, rules, and C code section.
L file is the base for generating text files using C language code, the so called ‘lexer’. Compiled program along with lex library constitutes the actual analyzer. Lexer works together with parser to analyze language syntax.
