PCM is an audio file format that stores raw audio data with no compression. PCM files tend to be rather larger (even up to few gigabytes) depending on bit depth used (typically 8 to 24 bits per sample).
PCM format is supported by most media players on the market, either free or paid, available for various system platforms. Main goal of PCM format is to provide high-fidelity audio data that reproduces its analog source data, mono or stereo signal, as close as possible.
