PGW is a graphics format that stores geographical data in plain text. PGW files contain georeference data for raster maps and are supported by many various GIS software applications.

PGW files are used to describe PNG image data. Each PGW file stores six parameters that define an affine transformation for scaling and rotation of raster element of given map.
