PROPERTIES is a support file used by Java virtual machine. Files with PROPERTIES extension store application settings and PROPERTIES accessed by the application during its operation.

Data stored in PROPERTIES file should be edited using dedicated Java API. PROPERTIES file stores data in plain text format, so editing the data is also possible using any text editor, for example, Windows Notepad.
