PWI file format is used by PDA devices running under Microsoft Mobile. Pocket Word tool uses this file format which is a limited version of DOC format – for example, PWI doesn’t support headers or footnotes.

Microsoft no longer offers support for its Windows PDA devices, and thus PWI documents are rarely used. PWI files can be opened using Microsoft Office, but it requires user to use ActiveSync to synchronize data from the mobile device.
