RT is the extension given to files most often associated with the RealPlayer multimedia player. RT files are used to store text that can be streamed. Files of this type are saved in the RealText format. RT files can be used as a supplement to other multimedia content or as a standalone video presentation.

RT files can also be served by other applications that are compatible with the Real Alternative technology.
