V64 is an extension characteristic of files created with the Doctor 64 device. V64 files contain a copy (made exactly byte by byte) of the game medium used originally in Ninetendo 64 video game consoles. Such files can be used by programs emulating the work of Ninetendo 64, and at the same time run in other hardware architectures (especially on PCs).

Doctor 64, also known as Bung Doctor, was developed by Bung Enterprises of Hong Kong.
