File with a .VCS extension contains information on an event or meeting – date, time, description stored in the vCalendar format. This format enables to export or to import data with different sorts of software dedicated to manage a calendar or a schedule.

VCS files are supported by Microsoft Outlook and Apple Calendar (previously – iCal) and the Palm Desktop software for the PDA devices. They enable transfer of data on scheduled events.
