WVE is a file format used by on of the most popular digital codex, DivX. WVE files store data used during encoding and decoding of MPEG-4 videos. WVE files are also used during video conversion processes.

WVE files don’t contain any actual video data. Their role is to provide support data for video projects. WVE files cannot be opened with any program, but they are required for the DivX package to work properly.
