File with an .XHT extension contains code of a website written in the XHTML programming language, which is a subset of the HTML language, with a more restricted syntax (based on XML).

XHT files may be also saved with an XHTML extension – they are similar to HTML files but they enable a more uniform websites’ appearance across different web browsers, which cannot be achieved fully utilising HTML.
