What is a PCD file?
File with a .PCD extension contains images obtained via scanning and photo editing equipment Kodak, stored in a variety of resolutions in a reserved format. PCD files enable recording photographs on CDs in a 24-bit colour format.
Each file stores five or six copies of a photo in a variety of resolutions, starting from the lowest used as a miniature menu image in 192 x 126 pixel resolution. The highest, fifth standard resolution is 3072 x 2048 pixel resolution. In case of Kodak’s Pro Photo CD standard, the sixth resolution is 6144 x 4096 pixels.

From the drop-down menu select "Choose default program", then click "Browse" and find the desired program. The whole operation must be confirmed by clicking OK. The second and more difficult to do is associate the PCD file extension to the corresponding software in the Windows Registry.
Is there one way to open unknown files?
Many files contain only simple text data. It is possible that while opening unknown files (e.g. PCD) with a simple text editor like Windows Notepad will allow us to see some of the data encoded in the file.
