What is a ZOO file?
ZOO is a file extension that is an older format of compressed data archives. Such archives were created on the basis of LZW lossless dictionary compression. This is a method that gives good results when it comes to compression. In favorable cases, it gave up to 80% savings in the occupied disk space than the original.
ZOO files could be found in operating systems based on the Unix kernel. Currently, this format is rare and considered obsolete. Has been replaced with ARC files.

How to associate the file with an installed software?
If you want to associate a file with a new program (e.g. my-file.ZOO) you have two ways to do it. The first and the easiest one is to right-click on the selected ZOO file. From the drop-down menu select "Choose default program", then click "Browse" and find the desired program. The whole operation must be confirmed by clicking OK. The second and more difficult to do is associate the ZOO file extension to the corresponding software in the Windows Registry.
Is there one way to open unknown files?
