What is a FX file?
FX file extension is used by Direct3D technology implementations for Microsoft Windows. Direct3D is a part of DirectX programming interface collection used by game developers.
FX files store data in plain text, such as properties of textures, shaders, lighting, and model rendering methods. FX file are written using Microsoft High Level Shader Language and structured into functions and properties sections.

The second and more difficult to do is associate the FX file extension to the corresponding software in the Windows Registry.
Is there one way to open unknown files?
Many files contain only simple text data. It is possible that while opening unknown files (e.g. FX) with a simple text editor like Windows Notepad will allow us to see some of the data encoded in the file.
