MBP1 is one the filename extensions associated with Kindle Touch ebook readers manufactured by Amazon. MBP1 standard was developed as an annotation storage format.
MBP1 files are automatically created and saved on e-reader. In the case of ebooks downloaded from Amazon store, associated MBP1 files can be stored on Amazon servers (cloud service) and synchronized with the device. Such files are automatically synchronized when internet connection is established. Kindle Touch is no longer produced. It debuted in 2011.

If you want to associate a file with a new program (e.g. my-file.MBP1) you have two ways to do it. The first and the easiest one is to right-click on the selected MBP1 file. From the drop-down menu select "Choose default program", then click "Browse" and find the desired program. The whole operation must be confirmed by clicking OK.
