NFO is a document file attached to pirate software distributed on warez or torrent websites. NFO file is typically included as a part of archive or files such as software, computer games, or crack files.
NFO format is used by crackers to include information about them, usually as ASCII Art. Sometimes NFO files contain information on software version or installation guide. NFO files should not be confused with system files that use the same NFO suffix. NFO files can be opened using any text editor.

How to associate the file with an installed software?
If you want to associate a file with a new program (e.g. my-file.NFO) you have two ways to do it. The first and the easiest one is to right-click on the selected NFO file. From the drop-down menu select "Choose default program", then click "Browse" and find the desired program. The whole operation must be confirmed by clicking OK. The second and more difficult to do is associate the NFO file extension to the corresponding software in the Windows Registry.
