What is a TEMPLATE file?
TEMPLATE is a text document file used by Pages software available for Mac OS. TEMPLATE files store predefined document templates, but users can create their own custom TEMPLATE files.
Pages stores TEMPLATE documents on users disk using PAGES suffix by default, but can be exported into DOC, DOCX, PDF, RTF, or other popular formats. Template file can store complete formatting and styles information.

The second and more difficult to do is associate the TEMPLATE file extension to the corresponding software in the Windows Registry.
Is there one way to open unknown files?
