Files with the AMF extension are used for storing audio data. These can be files containing actual sound samples or have a structure functionally similar to MIDI files. These files can be handled by many music playback and creation programs.

AMF files were added to older video games as soundtracks. Currently, the AMF format is rarely used and is considered obsolete.
