ASE files store color settings for three Adobe applications: Color, InDesign, and Illustrator. Photoshop, the most popular Adobe tool, uses different file format for that same purpose called ACO.
ASE files have been supported since the release of Adobe CS2 package. ASE files are commonly used by professional designers as it allows publishers and illustrators to exchange saved color settings.
