File with a .CMAP extension contains a diagram describing an idea with blocks, text and arrows. It stores a visualisation of a concept – a concept map and it enables sharing it with other users.

CMAP files are used by the IHMC CmpaTools software, developed by the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition of the University in Florida. They are utilised usually to quickly save effects of the so-called brainstorming performed during meetings.
