DX is the extension of files related to an older text editor called DEC WPS Plus. DX files are files that were used to save text documents created in the program. Technically, it was plain ASCII text that could be opened in any editor.

WPS Plus is a utility developed by Digital Equipment Corporation for the MS-DOS operating system. Currently, DX files are rarely seen and are considered obsolete.
