LDM is a binary file format used for storing complex 3D visualization data. LDM files are created with VolumeViz, a software tool for visualizing complex volume data sets.

LDM files are generated automatically by VolumeViz when the entire data set cannot be loaded into the active memory due to memory addressing limitations. LDM files can grow as larger as hundreds ow GB. VolumeViz is still actively developed and typically used for visualizing scientific data.
