MPA is an audio file compressed with MPEG-2 Layer II (earlier MPEG-1) compression. MPA files can encode mono, stereo, or multi-channel audio data. The main advantage of this format is great sound quality and relatively small file sizes.

MPA files are supported by most media players for both mobile and desktop systems. The format supports sample rates up to 384 kbit/s at 48 kHz and up to 6 audio channels (5.1 standard).
