The PGF extension is given to files that are used to store bitmap images saved in the Progressive Graphics format. A PGF file can contain both lossy and lossless compressed images. Images in PGF files are generated based on the discrete DWT wavelet transform.

The PGF format was developed by xeraina GmbH. Currently, these types of files are rare and considered obsolete.
