RAS is a graphics file format used on computers running under Unix operating system. RAS format was developed by Oracle (now owned by Sun Microsystems). RAS was designed for software and hardware manufactured by the company.

RAS images could be optionally compressed using RLE method and supported 32-bit encoding. RAS file format was immensely popular and many image viewers to this day offer support for RAS format.
